This one day workshop offers a practical introduction to the materials and processes behind oil painting.
You will be guided through the making and handling of artists’ materials, gaining a clearer understanding of your tools and resources.
Mixing and tubing oil paint
How pigments are made/sourced
Making sanguine sticks
The role of oils, solvents and mediums in painting
Stretching, sizing and priming linen
Making resin-based varnishes and mediums
An overview of brushes, tools and studio setup
